My Role

Vicki is a sport psych consultant working out of Remuera Golf Club, Auckland New Zealand.  She has just returned after the best of 10 years in the UK and Europe. If you are based in Australasia Vicki would love to hear from you email: vic@vickiaitken.com   Vicki’s expertise lies heavily in golf as she still works with a few players on the Ladies European Tour (LET).  Currently is providing sport psych services to the PGA of New Zealand and to NZ Golf (the national amatuer body).   Vicki also writes a regular article for the New Zealand Golf Magazine and for Multi Sport Magazine. For more details see www.vickiaitken.com  However, Vicki also likes to help any sports or sports people take their performances to the next level.

What I Offer

My colleague Dan Weigand and myself have just recently launched our book on the psychology of caddying called:

CADDY-TALK: Psychology of Being a Great Golf Caddy

We have interviews with Steve Williams (caddy to none other than Tiger Woods), Mike Patterson (caddy to Karrie Webb - currently top 5 in Women's World Rankings), Mark Fulcher (caddy on Men's European Tour), Fred "Bassett" (caddy of 24+years experience on the Ladies European Tour) and an Anonymous caddy (who's currently working on the US LPGA tour). It's a psychological handbook aimed at both buddying caddies and golf players to improve their own individual performances and their performances as a team.

See www.caddy-talk.com for further details.

About Me

Cricket was my first love when it came to sport - I played first XI cricket at High School.  Then golf took over.... I come from a golf mad family.  For example my sister Liz McKinnon was a professional golfer on the LET for several years and now works for NZ Golf as their Junior Programme Manager.

I like most sports.... like mountain biking, a bit of boogie boarding, running and swimming.  And currently enjoying the weights programme at Body Tech gym here in Auckland.

Last year a group of us set up the New Zealand Professional Women Golfers (NZPWG) Charitable Trust - we are giving professional women golfers in NZ the opportunity to play in a friendly but competitive environment whilst raising funds for women's health related charities.  In November 2009 we ran a very successful Anita Boon Pro-Am  - an all women event which raised almost $7,000 for Silver Ribbon Foundation (which supports gynaecological cancers in NZ).  The next tournament we have coming up is The NZPWG South Island Pro-Am on Sunday 21st February  at Clearwater Resort in Christchurch.  Proceeds are going to junior girls golf in the Canterbury region through The First Tee of NZ programme.
We have an awesome day lined up visit
www.tinyurl.com/nzpwg-events  for  more details or if you'd like to play in the NZPWG South Island Pro-Am - it's open to both men and women amateur golfers.
